Car Wash

Description

Host a car wash near your school or in your community!
Set up two lanes for faster service (if necessary).

Steps

Step 1: Pick a date

  • Warm and preferably sunny


Step 2: Find a location

  • Location to advertise

    • Near a main and busy road

  • Location for car wash

    • Abundant water supply

    • Grassy area

    • Maybe a parking lot


Step 3: Assign Roles


Step 4: Promotion

  • Make flyers

  • Hang flyers around the school and in local restaurants / businesses


Step 5: Make big posters / banners about SACH and the car wash to hold up at the intersection


Step 6: Other ways to make money

  • Set up a hotdog stand or lemonade stand

  • Encourage Donations with a bright can


Step 7: Supplies

  • Try to bring from home…

    • Hoses

    • Buckets

    • Wash towels

    • Dry towels

    • Squeegees

    • Dish soap

    • Coffee jar

    • Speaker for music

    • Coffee Can for Donations (BRIGHT)

    • Jar for money


Step 8: Set details

  • Assign Jobs for Car Wash

    • Promotion Team

      • Holds up posters on the streets to attract customers

    • Sales Team

      • Collects and stores money

      • Suggestion: $7 per wash, and ask for donations

    • Washing Cars Team

      • Wash team soaps, scrubs, and rinses each car

    • Drying Cars Team

      • Dry team gets water residue off, vacuums, does tires, etc.

    • Everyone works for 2 hour shifts


Step 6: Wash the cars!

  • 2 rows of cars for faster service

  • Saturday from 9am-2pm (8:30-2:30)

Roles

1. Marketing and Promotion Committee

  • Designs and hangs up fliers (at school and around the community)

  • Makes big posters

  • Tries to get into the local newspaper


2. Facility and Equipment Committee

  • Secures facility

  • Secures all necessary equipment and keeps track of who is bringing what

  • Sets up facility


3. Treasurer Committee

  • Collects money

  • Manages expenses


4. Other sales committee (optional)

  • In charge of lemonade stand
